| I have noticed that the gates can close on you, if you're not careful!
The way to get past it safely is to let it open, then wait a few seconds and it will open slightly more. If you try to go through before it has opened that little bit further, it will close as soon as you try to go through. God only knows why! So if you let it open that bit further, it will stay open.
I saw a white car parked outside the one of the front block with both wing mirrors taped back on with black tape... I wonder if it lost a battle with the gates!

| Be careful when using the gates tomorrow! Just got back and when i put the car in front of the gates they opened as usual but no sooner did they fully open they slammed shut. I had to reverse my car back three times before i risked speeding through them. As i went through they tried to shut but luckly got through quick enough. I have got the gates playing up on film now so i can show this countrywide how bad the gates are.
Could people let me know if they have already contacted countrywide about this before so i can let them know that they are not taking this serious enough.
Also i am not happy with how they are not dealing with the ice on the front steps and would like to know if anyone has got anything in writing where it says they are not down to deal with this problem. I think this is rubbish as we are still paying them but they are unable to carryout there gardening duties in this weather. In this case the bills from them should go down! Pretty sure this will not happen.
Cheers,
Ross | |

| Someone else had an issue with them on a previous thread I think, also my boss popped over last weekend and said they had almost had him although i did sorta think he may of been being paranoid but apparently not! Id hope faulty gates causing damage would be down to the management company to cover but i'd suspect not sohope you have protected no claims Loo. Also beware as a side note of what your buildings insurance covers - i have had a faulty tap which the plumber reckons had prob been leaking slowly for months - prob before i moved in. Unfortuently the first i noticed of it was a damp wall and carpet. I was advised by CA that the insurance only covered faulty workmanship issues not faulty goods and that carpet/wall would be home insurance issue, so dont believe the building insurance is worth the paper its written on unless the buildings start to crumble around us! | |

Scratching the sides but luckily not too much damage !!! I've reported it - not that they seemed to bothered - surprise !! Anyway just thought I'd let u all know wait around 20-30 seconds before u go through so the gates decide what to do!!!

| A fellow neighbour recently shared this with me.
Perhaps in response to some recent bad press regarding electric gates, the HSE have released a relevant safety notice.
Read it here:

| These gates do seem a bit mickey mouse, personally though I haven't experienced a problem (but I am not saying I believe there isn't one...).
By the way, these gates primarily open upon getting a significant weight on their sensors which are buried under a panel in the road (look for the tell-tale panel in the road either side of the gate, which has a tar border around it). The other detectors are a backup which are meant to stop the gate closing if something is stopped or stuck in the gate.

| Cheers for the heads up rossco, you get any joy out of them? Im dreading if we got problems with the gates already - i know someone who has similar gates and they had a complete mare when they ice up. Also I have already wiped the sensors once on the front of the gates as they were dirty and wouldnt open | |

| Just a word of warning to you all about the new entrance gate.
On the Sunday 29th August at about 5 PM my girlfriend and I saw the gate open when no car was near the gates and then slam shut at a dangerous speed. Also today my girlfriend was driving through the gate. When she was half way through she saw the gates started to close. After she got through she saw in her mirror that the gate jerked open again.
I tried to call Countrywide this evening when my girlfriend said what had happened but could not get through. I will try again tomorrow.
