Square is lovely just these parties!

Steve you wouldn't of heard not being in block c! My 4 year old niece woke up crying because of noise! I could hear lyrics of lady gaga n Alicia keys but was mainly screaming n lots of banter! I'm 24 so like to ave fun but we live in apaartments so people need to be considerate!

I have done some research and know exact names of people having party so I will passing them on!

Generally square is peaceful and people are polite just few children who ruin it for some!

Don't be put off. Unfortunately folks do tend to talk exclusively about the negative stuff but actually if you ask you find most people really love living here.

Also yes there has been trouble but also many people have moved in only recently. It seems to me b that as much as there has been problems it is slowly improving. It also much depends on where you are in the square. There was obviously some noise last night but as for me I didn't here or see any of it (no I'm not denying it happened - it's just it's a big square!).

It's also worth noting that it is early days and much is being done to better manage the square.

So don't be put off!

We also get it the Walton Street Car Park end. Not sure who the culprits are, but bass music and broken bottles and fag butts on stairwell every single weekend.

Looks like Circle Anglia are responding as I received a letter yesterday re: the recent anti-social behaviour of a few. Its says that it has been sent to all residents, so fingers crossed that it has some impact.....in the right direction!!

Either I'm in the quieter half of block C or the constant drone of Chiltern trains sends me to such a deep sleep that I miss all the commotion. Can I correctly assume that the problem residents live in the Southern end of the block - i.e. nearest to the Magistrates Court (left side when facing the block from the gardens) - and not the Walton Street Car Park end?
Is this is still occuring on a weekly/frequent basis or has it stopped since the police visit in August? Did Rose (the WPC) leave any useful non-999 contact numbers for us? If so, please add them to a new post: Useful Contact Details.

PostSubject: Glad to see others feel the same way.   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeTue Oct 12, 2010 2:23 pm

Just read through the latest entries under this thread. Wanted to remind residents in Block C that Mary Smyth and Karen Barber (Management officers for Circle Living) would welcome any details regarding persistant residents causing Anti Social behaviour in the Shared ownership Block of Viridian Square. Contact details are available in a posting on page two of this thread. I have spoken to them myself in the past and they require as much input as possible regarding these disturbances and where they are coming from. This will aid them to move forward with dealing with this issue in Block C in the near future. Regarding ciggi butts lying about outside, I understand that Country wide have been approached and asked to provide sand boxes for resisdents who prefer to smoke outdoors and wish to keep the site clean. Lets see if our £100 a month service charge will be put to good use!

Evening,
I am a fellow resident in block c - and guess I am one of the fortunate ones who is not affected by the noise from a few of the inconsiderate ones. I agree with Clarkeygirl, its appalling to see broken glass as a welcome to visitors and residents walking up the steps to the front doors. I have young nieces and nephews who often visit and I am very conscious of making sure they are okay. A bit of consideration goes a long way......Its a shame that less than a handful of people are upsetting so many others - particularly when I think this is a lovely place to live!

Would like to add to all the other posts. I moved into block C in May with my young child. Practically every weekend I hear unacceptable noise - mainly music (bass) and people up and down stairs to have their ciggies.

I am appalled by the fag butts and broken bottles on the stairs and now sometimes dread being here at the weekend! I shouldn't feel like that in my own home! Help! I would be very interested in a meeting as to how we can tackle this problem (as well as parking). I think it would be good for the majority of the residents who want to live here peacefully to get together for moral support if nothing else.

I think we all realise by now that these people dont bother to read the forum or are plain ignorant(i'll put my money on the latter), the sooner CA send them official warnings for breaching their contracts the better I think. Any idea of when we might be having a little gathering to discuss Res Assc and these issues Steve? cant be long now till Countrywide's contract is up is it?

I too have been disturbed by the noise, living both in block C and near a main stairwell where I hear people thumping up and down the stairs to get outside. It does get noisy at weekends and I cannot understand why the same group of people insist on shouting at one another outside and seem to have to drink large quantities of alcohol on a regular basis...

...but then again...

... it's also worth noting that the square is very peaceful indeed most of the time. I doubt there are many large residences full of flats like this one that are so quiet.

I'm not in any way condoning the noise (probably the fact I'm quite a heavy sleeper helps as well), but I often remind myself how great it is to live here, and that the vast majority of residents are very considerate.

PostSubject: Heard the noise as well.   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeMon Oct 11, 2010 1:34 pm

In reply to your posting above I was once again disturbed by a group of selfish and irrisponsible residents from Block C at various times during this weekend. Friday night saw me awake into the early hours of the morning as I endured the noise and racket from a group of noisy residents on the ground floor of Block C. Seems like the order of the day these days is to get all your friends around to your place, cause a major disturbance, push the hi fi speakers to the max before heading out to hit the town on a Friday or Sat evening. I had a hard week at work and decided to get an early night. This sadly didn't happen as the usual swing of things swung into action around 22h15 pm in Block C . I was also woken up by the noisy group of girls hanging about the entrance stairs in the early hours of Sat morning. They hung about waiting for transport home after a entertaining night at some residents place in Block C. THE DRINKS FLOW ALL NIGHT AND WE PAY THE PRICE.

Sunday night proved to be entertaining. No peace for the wicked so they say .The peace was once again broken by the painfull shouting and noise emerging from a residents apartment situated on the third floor of Block C.They decided that we all needed to share in the ritual of listening to them shouting out of their patio doors and saying goodbye to their friends down in the car park. This behaviour followed after a good old bash at theirs through the afternoon into Sunday evening. Have some consideration here folks. This is not only your home. Take at look at some of the postings on here and realise your behaviour is pissing many people off who share this space.

Time to read though your Terms and Conditions hand book handed out to you by Circle Living when you moved in. This kind of behaviour is prohibited under your contracts terms and conditions and I have feeling that it wont be long before many more unhappy residents will be calling on Cirlce Living for assistance with this ongoing Anti social behaviour.

Give it a break and think about others for a change.

Although things have improved a bit on the noise front there was still some problems. On sunday morning a group of people came back from a night out and were shouting and screaming as they went on their way,Its not right that these people seem to thin that they have the right to make as much noise as they did and think its ok.I thought that sunday would be relaxing but alas a flat on the 3rd floor has been making loads of noise, its not the first time this same flat has been noisy.they have the balcony doors open and are shouting, they are also shouting to people down on the road as they leave, just stop it.everyone else dosnt want to hear you.Why should we all suffer because you think that you can act as you please.I cant wait until circle living begin to take action.

I agree with you loo.It is disgusting that these selfish people think that they can do what they want without any thought for anyone else around them.I think that the more of us that phone circle living to complain the more chance there is of getting something done. There are some really nice people who live here and it could be a really nice place to live in,its just a shame that there a a certain few flats that are letting themselves and the square down with their selfish, dirty and ignorant ways.

I feel I have to post something, as whoever is having these parties needs to know how they are affecting people, I've just popped out to do some shopping, I've come back and as I was walking up the stairs there was 5 stella bottles, 1 which had been smashed, now i don't have kids but my younger sister is coming to visit and if she was to pick it up she could get seriously hurt, with it being wet even if someone slipped and fell onto it they could be hurt - where is your respect??? This is were people live - not oceana!!! If people were trying to sell their flat they wouldn't have a chance in hell with it bring littered with cigs and broken bottles on the stairwell?? We have to take action against these people because I'm sure not having people making my life a misery especially as Sunday is my only day off, as I'm sure it is for some others. It looks like a state out there it looks like uni halls - IT ISNT i suggest if u want to live like that go back to uni!!! Also Friday night all sorts were being thrown out of a particular flats window - all i have to say is grow up and think of your neighbours which is about 150 people!!!!!!!

Hi all,

Last weekend was very queit for a change but last night was a bit more noisy. Some girls in block c had been out and came back at 3am and were in the corridors making a lot of noise with their shouting and screeching. Please have a bit more thought for your fellow residents. Its not fair to wake up other people when they are trying to sleep. You would like it if it happened to you so just have more thought please.

It's so refreshing to hear other people feel the same about the noise levels.

I live in Block C beneath. I have wanted to on numerous occasions walk up to the flat and moan but unfortuantely i would not keep my cool.

Something needs to be done.

Don't get me wrong, i'm all up for having fun with my firends but when you are inflicting this on other people it's completely unacceptable.

Hi, I just wanted to say I was also kept awake the party held on the second floor of Block C last evening. I was still awake this Sunday morning at 2:45 am as guests continued to trail out the front door and leave the buildling. It was amongst some of the worst noise disturbance that I have encountered since living here in Viridian Square. The structure certainly took some pounding as well. Guests shouted, chanted and stamped their feet loudly on the floors of their apartment as they spurred their mates to down drinks. People continued to move up and down the corridoors throughout the nite as they made their way to the entrance door to smoke outside. A number of drunk and noisy people outside kept shouting up to their mates who were hanging out the apartment doors upstairs.

Is it not time that Cirlce Living addressed this issue with the guilty tenants and made this place a more peaceful place to live? A trend is developing here and it appears that its the same apartments that are creating these noise disturbances weekend after weekend. I get no rest here over weekends anymore and I can honestly say its starting to tip me over the edge.

The party really got going at around 23h20 pm.This was because their Chinese takeaway order arrived downstairs. The guests were cheering and shouting loudly to the delivery people downstairs urging them to bring it up to them.

I noted that the police arrived on the square at 00h10 am to address the issue with the guilty tenants. Whilst things seemed quieter after their visit I was still aware of noise as the guests continued to leave the building throughout the early hours.

I understand that there are two contacts at Circle Living where complaints can be sent regarding the ongoing noise disturbances in the shared ownership block.

The email addresses of two anti social behaviour officers at Circle Anglia are as follows:

karen.barber@circleanglia.org

or

mary.smyth@circleanglia.org

I urge all tenants who are experiencing these same problems to direct their complaints in writing two these two officers as soon as possible.

The Thames Valley Police can be contacted on 0845 850 5505

Is it not time that we regained some peace and quiet here and enjoyed some quality living over weekends for a change. I certainly think so!
