PostSubject: Hi All   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 3 I_icon_minitimeSun Sep 12, 2010 3:05 am

Firstly i would like to say how pleased i am that so many people have had a look and this posting,Sadly our comments and worries have been ignored by some ignorant, selfish party goers. There was another part on the 2nd floor of block c and I have to say that the noise was some of the worst i have ever heard. It started at around 7.30ish with a dreadful rendition of glee.As the night progressed and they obviously had more to drink they got loauder,Not just the music but they were shouting, banging things on the metal balcony and stamping their feet. But the worst thing was that they kept slamming doors and then stamping down the main stairs on their way to have a ciggy. At on point there was a group of them on the steps smoking and one of their drunk female friends was shouting down to them, this was past 11.30.They were playing drinking games as you could hear the chanting as someone was downing a drink.
Who the hell are these people to have such a total disregard for other people,Their lack of respect and thought for other residents was a disgrace.this has really got to stop as it has gone on for too long.If the flat concerned reads this then please have a bit more thought for other residents. You and yours guests were a total emabarresment and you need to realise that because of your behaviour people are not geeting to sleep. This is peoples home and not a universty campus.Grow up.

I will be contacting circle living first thing on monday about what has happened as it is about time that these selfish residents were dealt with.

PostSubject: saturday night   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 3 I_icon_minitimeMon Sep 06, 2010 3:23 am

I agree totally. Unfortunately, I almost feel foolish now for suggesting patience and tolerance, because the behaviour I witnessed personally was far beyond mere loud partying. I noticed some of these subhuman morons pitching up in the square very early in the evening, around 6pm. They were either already drunk or were just naturally stupid, or both. The language they were shouting out was lewd at best, and otherwise just blatantly offensive and clearly aimed at just about anyone who was around. I was with my partner at the time and I was incredibly embarrassed that she was exposed to this at my own home.

It is one thing to have a party now and then, but this isn't just partying, it is offensive behaviour and there is vandalism to boot. There is absolutely no excuse for any of it and I find it unbelievable that anyone who had actually paid to live here would allow such events to take place in their name. I only can assume that some kid or two has moved in to a flat that has probably been paid for by their parents and they simply don't care at all about their new place or its environment.

We must take action. Unfortunately we will get nowhere by making vague claims about noise coming from a certain direction or block.

I suggest we all start making notes about what is going on, which must include specific property numbers. We need to find out if this is the same person or people causing these problems, and exactly what the source is. When we have gathered this information we would have a stronger case to take action collectively. If we work together and complain together I am sure we will make better progress than if we complain or report individually and without co-ordination or specific information.

However, please don't post your specific findings here for security reasons. Keep hold of the data you collect, and soon we can gather that data together 'offline' and make the reports.

In the meantime of course, it won't hurt to report incidents as they happen (but still, keep notes for later). That will add weight later on.

Yes it was bad last night. These people need to be sorted out and told by ca and the police that their actions are causing misery to some other residents. It had stopped by about 11.30ish and to be honest i didnt hear any loud swearing or shouting after then.I heard from a resident today that some of the drunk idiots and their female friends were going to some cars and putting ciggy butts on the cars and also pulling up peoples wiper blades. This is not on,Its no cheap to have a car now and if people start doing this its just vandelism and a criminal offence. If anyone knows the people who did this is has to stop now.If it dosnt those responsable will be reported to ca and the police.I work hard for what i have i i am dammed if i am going to let some drunken yobs ruin it for me and otheres in the square.

was certainly a very loud evening with all of the noise outside/open flat. Alot of loud swearing and shouting early on although i couldnt say exactly where itwas coming from. Agree entirely with you Loo - is like living at a university campus. Like I say, it did die down my end fairly early but was getting ridiculous with the swearing being shouted out - I feel really sorry for anyone with kids here. Since It dosent seem to normaly go on my end am willing to let this one go - but if you are responsible and read this - you were an embarrasment to our block last night with your lack of respect for your fellow residents and if it happens again and you cant control your friends I WILL REPORT YOUR FLAT TO POLICE AND CA NEXT TIME - the view count on this topic alone, for a week old thread, proves many ppl are fed up of this issue and things need to change rapidly.

Yep kept up until 1 this morning ... I have taken down the flat number of this one and will be on the phone to circle anglia first thing.. People need to start respecting that other people live here I mean even if they closed their doors that would help!! It really is like living in a university dorm - I think something needs to be said there were drunken teenagers wondering around at 7;00 when I got back from shopping.
These people need to know the misery they are causing.
I never thought that I'd be the person to call circle anglia as I'm not that type of person but this is just ridiculous!!!

Yes I agree with the last two posts. There's no need to feel like its 'them vs. us'. I'm sorry if you feel picked on. It is worth bearing in mind that the majority of complaints (all but one I believe) have come from block C itself. Clearly, the noise coming from block C does in fact affect block C more than any other. Certainly, there is no suggestion a residents association is to be formed to battle against block C, in fact, it would ideally require as much representation from all blocks including C to be most effective. How well it would work would depend on how many owners are dedicated enough to join in and make a proactive effort. The purpose of that group would not be all about noisy neighbours either - it would be about any and all issues in the square.

Nonetheless, while I also am sure that is widely accepted that it is only a select few neighbours that are causing issues, there may be some who hold some prejudiced opinions surrounding block C. This feeling may be fed in part because in truth, there have been very few events or issues as reported here before block C was populated. What I would like to remind those of that opinion is that we do now have a lot of new neighbours in the square. People are bound to be celebrating and are excited about their new environment. It shouldn't be assumed that it will be like this forever. We have a lot of people in the square now, and a lot of people moving in. I feel sure it will settle down soon.

The square is now far more diverse than it once was, due to the way in which each block was sold differently. For example, block A and B are privately purchased (some let out), block C is shared ownership, and in the far corner, AVDC owns that block and lets it out to council tenants. I believe the other blocks are all private. Those that moved in very early on will have to get used to the fact that the square will not be as quiet as it once was. But then, if you wanted silence and solitude, why would you move in to a huge development of hundreds of flats?

Yes, let's deal with issues. But also, let's have some tolerance and understanding! We all live here, after all!

Hi loo,

Sorry if you felt excluded in some way but i am also in block c and talking to other residents who are in the same block as us they also have the same concerns regarding the noise.I would like nothing more than for us all to become a community and to get on but for that to happen some things do need to change and the issues dealt with.I dont think we are ganging up on block c,i would feel the same way if it was another block, but as i said being in block c i do have an intrest in the goings on and just want to make living here a better place.

No need to worry Loo, i think theres a few of us moaning that are from block c lol. If you look at steve residents association thread we are just as welcome to join that as anyone else. I for one(from block c) am just making my point on this thread as if we dont get it nipped in the bud then WE WILL all end up living in the worst block and I certainly dont want trouble selling my flat when I can move up the ladder because of the reputation caused by a few. Just as a final point, i think the more us we can get represented on the res assc as it is formed the better, so everyone pls let steve know if they are interested.
Cheers

PostSubject: Not a fair judgement....   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 3 I_icon_minitimeWed Sep 01, 2010 3:37 pm

Hi, having just recently moved into 'block C' I see the troubles you are having and it's
Obviously an issue for all of us that has to be sorted.
But I really don't think it's fair that we are being tarred with the same brush just because there are a few individuals with no respect - we have every right to be included in everything that is causing issues and some of us have the majority share of our flats, I just feel that with some of the comments some of you guys are making us feel a little worthless as of course we want to be part of your community too - and if we make it more of a community and not just everyone against block c we can all work together to put this to a stop, after all we have the exact contacts and also these specific people are breaking their contract.

Don't want to moan but thought I'd have my say as it feels we are all being put into categories which is hardly fair!!

Thanks

PostSubject: Use of the forum, leaflets, etc   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 3 I_icon_minitimeTue Aug 31, 2010 3:16 am

Hello all:

I agree with all of this it's a serious issue. As a friend said to me, it's becoming rather like a university campus on Saturday night. It is just a few neighbours and many of their friends though causing misery for the masses.

This is clearly a big issue for many and as such this forum thread is gaining a lot of attention. For that reason, can I please remind everyone:

This is a public forum - anyone can view it, so:

  • Please avoid bad or offensive language (even if the topic tempts it..)

  • Do not make any personal references to yourself or other specific neighbours for security reasons.

  • Do not state any personal information such as flat numbers, phone numbers, etc.

There has been some mention of 'leafleting' the square about this issue. What I am in the process of doing is advertising this forum / web site soon (not this specific issue) and will put a note in each of the mailboxes in the square.

This forum was set up some time ago when there were only two blocks in the square, and as such its users are bias towards those blocks. Some others have stumbled across it, but still we really need to get more users from the other blocks so I hope this will help.

If anyone can help me by taking a number of leaflets and posting them within their blocks mailboxes that would be great - please contact me ( stevem@viridiansquare.org.uk )

Who knows, perhaps the neighbours causing the noise may come across these posts and perhaps it will help them to realise the extent of misery and frustration caused.

Thank you.

Steve M

PostSubject: Constant Noise Disturbnces In The Square   Noise disturbances, vandalism, etc on Saturday nights - Page 3 I_icon_minitimeSun Aug 29, 2010 4:45 pm

Just wanted to comment on the general lack of consideration for fellow residents in Block C of Viridian Square. I have also experienced the constant noise disturbances that are being imposed on residents of the shared ownership block in the square in recent months. I cannot believe that people think that they can keep getting away with inflicting these constant noise disturbances on us without confrontation in the near future. Just a word of advice to other resisdents in the square. Our post code falls under an anti social behaviour order which is monitored by Thames Valley police in this area. This is due to the closeness of the square to the town centre. This means that the community police will usually endevour to respond to any complaint in this area if you phone the local Thames valley police emergency number. I have done this on several ocassions myself and they have always been very helpfu. They have always reponded to my calls by visiting the square and confronting the guilty partys directly at the time of the disturbances.

I noticed that the police responded to a complaint on Sat night when a party was gettnig out of control on the 3rd floor of Block C. Well done Rose ( helpful constable)!

My advice to you is to call in your complaint on the following number providing as much information about the issue at hand. This includes the apartment number where the noise originates from, nature of disturbance , etc. They usually promise to get a unit down to the square investigate your complaint as soon as possible. The number to call 0845 850 5505

They will also quote you with a reference for the complaint logged. This is useful as each reference is logged and can be handy in building a case against guilty residents. I also urge you to contact the Circle Living portfolio management officer for our block and voice your concerns to her Her name is Emma Jackson. Also ask that she write out to the guilty party and give them written warning about their unacceptable behaviours. Emma Jackson can be contacted on 0845 815 7500.

This is a our home and it would be nice to feel that we have the right to sleep at night or watch our television in peace without the fear of a noise disturbance shattering the life style we believed we were buying into when we bought our homes in Viridian Square. Good luck folks. Pass the word about to other residents about this website as I believe that it might be a handy link to have on your pc in the future to keep in touch with current issues effecting us in our new home.

I'm getting fed up of it too, it gets to the point that I expect not to be able to sleep on a Saturday night now until at least 11pm because of the amount of noise being generated. It does seem to be coming from the same flat each week from my perspective (1st floor shared ownership block) although it's hard to tell.

Everyone has house warming parties, I did too however I made sure everyone was out of the square by 8pm and carried on the fun in town so as not to disrupt everyone else. Afterall all, as you've said, this is everyone's home.

I fully agree that p*ssing anywhere near other people property is out of order in anyones books - can you confirm the block? Im assuming you mean the shared ownership block? If so, if you can pinpoint the flat that is causing the trouble and are 100% certain it is them then i would suggest maybe having a word with circle anglia and a threatening letter from them may sort it out, im not sure leafleting would work as I would hazard a guess that it is the owners mates that are causing more problems than him/herself and he would probably assume that a general leaflet has nothing to do with him/her. Have also pm'd you Chris

cheers for the reply, yes i do agree that it does seem to be new residents, however theses people have been here a while and this is the third weekend on the trot that they have had a party. As i said ,its getting out of hand, just ask the woman with with 7 month old baby, she was beside herself and the site of that vile creature weeing against the fence right outside her flat is just unacceptable.

Viridian square is where people live and not a collage campus.

This nearly always seems to coincide with new residents moving in + seems to be bh weekends, and, to be fair usually calms down once someone has a word. Im assuming you are reffering to block c last night? Just to add my two pence worth - please can some people remember that when you have a group of mates round that these are flats we live in and walls are very thin!!!

I feel that i have to post a new topic regarding the party on the 4th floor on saturday 28th august.I was disgusted by the lack of consideration these people seem to have for other tenants. The noise was horrific, there was screaming, shouting and loud music. They kept slamming doors as they went outside and stood on the steps by the fron door drinking and smoking. Why do people feel the need to have to have the doors open and infect everyone with their noise. What i felt was disgusting was that at one point i saw a lad weeing against the fence, that in itself is vile.this is where people live and what right does he have to piss where he likes.Sadly for him he was seen and told off by a woman,This same woman has a 7 month old baby and she was beside herself as her baby could not sleep because of the noise.I did see that a policewoman did turn up and have a word with them and the noise did seem to go.

What right to these people have to think that they can make whatever noise they want and expect other residents to put up with it,they are just selfish.Viridian square is where people want to live and make it their homes and not a collage dorm for drunken idiots to run riot.

This has got to stop,I think we need to have a meeting of some sort so that all these issues can be bought out to the open,or perhaps something can be put through everyones door so make people aware as not everyone may not have pc access.

For the sake of everyones sanity can we please get this issue sorted so we can all live here with some peace.
